The Last Layer

I am excited to introduce The Last Layer, the first book in my new paranormal romantic-suspense series, The Last Line.

For more than two centuries, five men have answered the call when an American president faced a threat that could not be handled through ordinary channels. Their names have never appeared together in an official record, their missions have remained hidden from history, and only a handful of people have ever known the truth about what they are.

Fourteen years have passed since Gideon and his pack last operated together, but when a young boy is kidnapped from a guarded estate outside Madrid, the president is forced to call upon the secret team once again. Gideon expects to find a hostage and the men responsible for taking him; instead, he finds Julia Serrano, a federal agent whose warnings were ignored, whose investigation was buried, and whose determination to protect the boy has already cost her nearly everything.

Julia does not know why five mysterious men have appeared in the middle of her investigation, why they possess abilities no human beings should have, or why Gideon reacts to her with a protectiveness that reaches far beyond the mission. As the pack follows the conspiracy from a Spanish estate toward the highest levels of the American government, Julia begins to understand that the men protecting her are carrying a secret older than the country they serve.

Gideon has spent fourteen years believing separation was the only way to protect his pack, but Julia’s arrival forces him to confront the cost of that decision, along with a bond neither the man nor the wolf can deny. Before they can discover what that bond might become, they must rescue a child, uncover a traitor, and survive an enemy who understands how to turn the government’s own protections against them.

The Last Layer combines covert missions, political conspiracy, found family, true mates, and a powerful pack returning to the work they were created to do.
